5 reasons why gamers like The Secret World

The Secret World

If you’ve been reading this blog, you know I don’t have high hopes for The Secret World. The game is scheduled for release on July 3rd and in my opinion it’s not ready and never will be. But I won’t go over that, again.

There’s little doubt the game has its supporters and some fervent ones. Just because I think the game blows, doesn’t mean some people won’t find it enjoyable. With that in mind, I went through the TSW forums and found 5 reasons people like the game. I present them here, without comment (As much as I want to, I won’t. Must restrain geek snarkiness…). I’ve pulled a few quotes from the TSW forums, but these themes are repeated often by forum posters.

1. “Quests Like The Horror Show really make one realize it is a modern MMO.” “[T]he game tries to avoid the pitfalls of standard questing models by including interesting non-combat quests with investigation mechanics.”

2. “I like the fact that this game makes me think…”

3. “Love the atmosphere…” “The Secret World is set in our modern world… This premise is exciting for its novelty, a truly new thing within a genre obsessed with fantasy and sci-fi…” “The Savage Coast is actually really REALLY creepy.”

4. “…[I]t is a freeform class system much like Skyrim, where the player is empowered to create their own classes…”

5. “Loved the storyline”
