Call of Duty: Activision announces $1 bil in sales; Wall St. yawns

Activision-Blizzard announced, today, that Call of Duty: Black Ops II grossed $1 billion dollars in just 15 days. That’s one day faster than it took last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to reach a billion in sales and 2 days faster than it took the movie Avatar to reach a billion at the box office. Well, that’s what the press release says, anyway. You can read it yourself, here.

You’d think those were some impressive numbers, wouldn’t you? You might think with Diablo III and Mists of Pandaria and, now, these crazy CoD sales numbers that Activision-Blizzard would be a booming stock on Wall Street. It’s not. Today, Activision-Blizzard (ATVI) closed down 0.05, ending the day at $11.23.

There are more than a few reasons why Wall Street is hatin’ on Activision-Blizzard. We’ll take a look at those reasons in the next post.
