Light: Raindrops caught in a spider’s web

I think I’m attracted to patterns. Maybe we all are. It’s been raining a lot where I live, recently, so a lot of my photos are wet. I wish I could plan such a thing, because I love the way drops of water glisten and shine, making photos more interesting.

I got this photo out on my deck. A spider had built a web on between a chair and the side of the deck. After yet another rainfall, I noticed all these raindrops caught in the spider’s web. I thought the pattern of the drops, their shine, and the pattern of the web was incredible.

Like yesterday’s image, Speckling of swallow, I originally shot these in color, but got a more interesting image when I removed the color and brought out the highlights and contrast. I ended up with an image that was all about light and shapes and patterns.
