FFXIV RR: Please let this be good

The re-release of Final Fantasy XIV, FF XIV: A Realm Reborn, is due at the end of this month on August 27.

Let’s face it, if you’re like most people your attention is elsewhere. Wandering around the net to various gaming sites, most people are pretty meh about this game. Gamers are constantly on the hunt for a new MMO, but this one has a bit of the boy-who-cried-wolf stink to it: You just can’t get excited, because you already did. And you know what happened last time you got excited over this game:  Square Enix gave you an unholy Gordian mess of an MMO.

This time they promise it will be different. Sure, buddy, sure it will. Maybe you’ll go play Defiance now that it’s so cheap. You’re not going to get fooled, again, are you?

Are you?

Well, the gameplay videos do look intriguing… And if they fixed most of the bugs… And if the combat system actually works… And, you know, you like Final Fantasy…

Oh, who are you fooling? You and almost all the rest of the gaming community will be right there. What’s it hurt? It’s not like you have anything else to do, right?

Oh, wait, it has a subscription fee.

Hmmm. Maybe you won’t be there, after all.
