Nature: Mob of mushrooms

I’ve probably mentioned it, already, but my house is right next to a park, so it’s easy for me to just grab my camera and go out and take photos of the suburban wilds. Nature photography isn’t something I planned on getting into, but as long as it’s there I might as well take advantage of it. If I was living in the city, I’m sure I’d do more street photos and urban photography.

There’s almost always something worthwhile to shoot in the park, like the mushrooms in today’s photo.

Pro photographers say you should shoot your photos in a way that makes them different. For me, that means getting down on the ground and shooting things like this at bug level. I did happen to catch an image of these mushrooms with a bug on them, but the bug was round and black and not very interesting, so I went with this bug-less image.

I did bump up the darkness and contrast in Lightroom to give the mushrooms a more ominous look, like a threatening mob. If I’m going to take nature photos, I want them to look different when I can.
