Odds and Ends: The giving tree

This tree stands outside the George Washington University ballpark, right next to the Barcroft ball fields in Arlington, Virginia. It’s dead, it’s branches cut off.

I have no idea what its history is, just that it made me think of the Shel Silverstein’s book, The giving tree. It feels very sad to me. You can tell it was a once beautiful tree.

The photo is desaturated. I try to use effects like this sparingly; in this case I think it worked well.
