B&W: Master lock

Back to black and white, this week.

I’m not sure if it says anything about American society–it probably does–but as I wander around, I see locks everywhere. I bet you do, too, if you look start looking for them.

Locks, chains, fences, permeating American life. Ask this, do they have to? Do so many things really require all this security?

Personally, I don’t think so. It’s just part of our psyche to lock things away, to prevent others from seeing them, touching them.

This particular master lock and chain greatly conveys that feeling. I think you can feel the weight of the chain and the lock.
