Angles: The pointy end

On the surface, this might seem like a simple photo of traffic lines. There’s a lot going on in this photo, though, which I hope makes it interesting. A lot of this photo, while it might feel simple, is about composition.

The lines for a intersecting to form the “pointy end”; the “pointy end” forms a nice triangle, pleasing to the eye; the point sweeps down from the upper right to the lower left, leading the eye, pointing at the lower left corner of the photo; and you have that great color contrast between the yellow and the black.

The shape, the lines, and the colors, the way the photo is composed, come together to create something more than yellow traffic lines on black tarmac.
